On 3rd july I was at Frankfurt International airport. I flew from Riga to Frankfurt am Main with Lufthansa's A320. I had connection and my next flight was on Austrian Airlines Dash 8 Q400. A bus from Lufthansa's A320 took me into terminal 2 but they needed to drop me out at terminal 1, so since this was my first connection I was a bit scared but I made it.

Boarding started. We had bus boarding. The bus drive was very long, so got some great shots by that. When the bus stopped I walked to the aircraft! The aircraft was a 12 year old Dash 8 Q400 (OE-LGJ). Bombardier Dash 8 Q400s have got always 2:2 configuration. When I took my seat, senior flight attendant walked up to me and told me something in German (I didn't understand it) and gave me some Austrian Airlines playing cards and 2 packs of Haribo in plane shape! That was so nice! Then the engine's were turned on and safety demonstration was over we taxied to runway 18. Of course since this airport is so busy there was a big traffic. And then pilots spooled up the engines and took off. One thing I didn't like is that the vibrations from engines were so much that even the floor vibrated. That was really weird feeling...

At cruising altitude of 7km the flight attendants started to give drinks. She gave me an orange juice and hazelnut waffle bar. The seatpocket contained a magazine and safety card. The safety card was damaged.

Then we started to decent. I thought it would be bumpy over mountains but there was no turbolence. A lot of thick clouds were outside so didn't see the beautiful terrain. At last when the plane was lined up on final I finally saw something! This 'Dashy' went over the city which looked really nice. The touchdown was really smooth. When it stopped at gate there was my one of last sights of AirBerlin 737-700 from Palma De Mallorca (PMI). The Innsbruck airport was small so baggage came fast and that was it for my flight.

Final over beautiful city of Innsbruck, note that ski jump.

On finals over beautiful city of Innsbruck!

Conclusion: I really enjoyed flying with Austrian Airlines. The flight was smooth, flight attendants were really nice! Only thing I actually didn't enjoy is their Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 usage. They should start using E195 and it would be way beyond awesome!

Happy flying from Didzis!
